4/10/2025
LONGVIEW, TEXAS (APRIL 10, 2025)– Longview Regional Medical Center provided care to thousands of area residents in 2024, with 272,000 patient encounters across its network of physician clinics and other outpatient sites of care. In addition to delivering safe, quality, compassionate healthcare, the health system is helping those in need, supporting charitable organizations and contributing to the area economy. In its most recent Community Benefit Report, Longview Regional’s impact totaled an estimated $194 Million in 2024.
“Our work to grow and enhance the medical services we provide is ongoing, as we continuously improve our safety and quality and support access to healthcare for our community,” said Brett Maxfield, interim chief executive officer of Longview Regional Medical Center. “From providing care to our most vulnerable residents to supporting local charitable organizations, we are proud to make an impact on the health, well-being and quality of life in East Texas.”
Longview Regional’s emergency room provides lifesaving, medically necessary care at more than 43,000 patient encounters each year, treating all patients regardless of their ability to pay. In 2024, Longview Regional provided $33 million in charity and uncompensated care and provided resources to help patients in need of secure medications and medical support devices.
Our health system and its employees also support local organizations that make a difference, especially those addressing social determinants of health. Through service projects such as the annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter drive for Longview Community Ministries and contributions to charitable organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club of Gregg County, East Texas Angel Network and the East Texas Alzheimer’s Alliance. Longview Regional Medical Center gives back to the community throughout the year.
The hospital also took steps to strengthen local access to healthcare as we continue to invest in resources to advance our medical care and services to benefit our patients and support our team in their work to deliver care. Our capital projects totaled approximately $1.5 million last year, which included renovations to the Emergency Room, Nursing Stations, Patient Rooms, and Trauma Rooms to improve the patient experience and quality of care. Access has been enhanced with the expansion of Longview Orthopedic Regional Clinics (LORC), which welcomed eight orthopedic surgeons and four midlevel providers from Longview Orthopaedic Clinic Association (LOCA). This growth strengthens orthopedic services in Longview and Marshall, providing expert care closer to home. Additionally, our orthopedic surgeons surpassed their 500th robotic-assisted joint replacement milestone, improving surgical precision and patient outcomes.
“We are strategically applying our resources to help area residents have access to the care they need close to home,” said Maxfield. “These investments, along with our outstanding medical staff and employees, support our delivery of high quality medical care and services for a positive patient experience.”
Longview Regional is one of the community’s larger employers with a payroll of $136 million. In addition to supporting the local economy through job creation, Longview Regional paid $13 million in taxes in 2024, monies that support local infrastructure and civic resources.
“Our continued growth reflects our deep commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality care to the communities we serve. Every milestone is a step forward in our mission to improve lives and advance the future of healthcare,” said Brett Maxfield, interim chief executive officer of Longview Regional Medical Center.
