Tiny Toes moms, we have additional resources for you!!

Longview Regional is a designated Texas Ten Step facility.  We are privileged to provide evidence-based breastfeeding resources and classes to get you and your baby off to the right start.  Texas Ten Step facilities are located actoss the State and adhere to 10 specific steps to ensure and protect breastfeeding in new mothers and infants.  The program, which is endorsed by the Texas Medical Association, and developed by the Texas Hospital Association (THA) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), required breastfeeding training to all staff that work with pregnant moms, newborns and infants.  The Texas Ten Step Program, which requires an annual recertification, is based on the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and their Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, which ensures improvement in maternity care practices through policy revision and staff training.  Breastfeeding is importnat in that it provides protection for both the mother and baby.  Breastmilk is the best nutrition you can give your baby.  It protects your baby from illness and infection and promotes brain development.  It is very easily digested and changes in daily to meet your baby's nutritional needs.  Many of the ingredients in breastmilk are not found in artificial baby milk.  This is a vital resource and we are proud to be a part of the promotion and support for our community.  For more information on breastfeeding, lactation support or other inquiries, please call our Nursery (903)232-3760 or visit:  www.breastmilkcounts.com.  For more information on the Texas Ten Step Program, pleas visit www.texastenstep.org

Longview Regional has additional resources available on our Health Resources page.
