Sleeve Gastrectomy
The Sleeve Gastrectomy is an additional procedure option offered by the WLS program. The procedure allows the size of the stomach to be reduced with any intestinal re-routing or reconnection. The stomach is reduced to an enlarged version of the esophagus to reduce the amount of food someone is able to eat. The result is you fill full more quickly and have reduced consumption.
The reduced intake allows for weight loss without the malabsorptive properties of the gastric bypass or the foreign body placement of the Lap-Band. The typical recovery time is 4-6 weeks depending on your level of activity at home and at work. This procedure is not currently covered by most insurance companies and is considered a private pay selection in most cases. a consultation with Dr. Suits after the seminar will help you to determine if this might be the right procedure for you.
