Emergency Department
Longview Regional Medical Center Emergency Department is a twenty-bed unit fully staffed and equipped to manage any injury or illness for all age groups. The ER has eleven rooms equipped with state-of-the-art cardiac monitors and diagnostic capabilities.
As a designated Level III Trauma Center, the Emergency Department provides a multidisciplinary staff educated in trauma care and injury prevention. Three trauma resuscitation rooms are fully equipped and capable of treating any emergency, whether trauma or critical illness. All Emergency Room physicians and Trauma Surgeons are certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
LRMC offers a full service X-Ray, CT scan, MRI and Ultrasound services, whichare available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, bedside sonography is available for rapid diagnostic procedures. Specially equipped rooms are also available for OB/GYN, ENT, Ophthalmologic, and Orthopedic emergencies. Our Express Care Program provides medical care for patients with non-emergent injuries or illnesses by ER physicians.
In May 2007, LRMC's Emergency Services launched a new initiative focused on providing suspected heart attack patients with a fast track to medical care. With a simple 15 minute blood test called Triage Cardiac Pane, coupled with an accelerated protocol, LRMC's physicians can accurately diagnose and triage heart patients earlier and more effectively.
Longview Regional's ER is a leader in the development of emergency preparedness against bioterrorism for Gregg County and the City of Longview. The ER staff routinely participates in county and citywide disaster drills. They also serve on multiple committees within our city, county, as well as on the Trauma Regional Advisory Council.
