Stent Placement A stent is a tiny, expandable metal coil that is inserted into the artery to help keep the artery from narrowing or closing again. Stents can help keep the heart’s arteries open and prevent a heart attack. |
Longview Regional introduces diagnostic imaging that is faster, easier and leads to more accurate diagnosis and treatment sooner than ever before.
Longview Regional Medical Center’s Department of Diagnostic Imaging Center offers 24-hour services for emergency patients and for hospital inpatients.
Diagnostic Imaging offers a variety of services, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures:
- X-Rays
- Fluoroscopy
- Nuclear Medicine
- Computerized Tomography (CT) Scanning
- Sonography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Angiography
- Balloon Angioplasty
Some of the department’s other advanced technology includes a Digital Stereotactic Biopsy Unit, which allows breast biopsies to be performed quickly and easily without surgery. Diagnostic Imaging also offers a special procedures suite in which a variety of sophisticated exams can be performed:
- Angiograms
- Endoscopies
- Bronchoscopies
- Angioplasties
- Stent Placements
In addition, the department is equipped with a dual-head nuclear medicine system, which offers a higher quality diagnostic image in half the time of the previous procedure.
Longview Regional Medical Center's Medical Park Imaging Center, offers patients the opportunity to undergo significantly more comfortable exams with the Toshiba Vantage Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Toshiba Aquilion CT Scanner (CT Scan).
The Vantage MRI is designed to improve the patient experience with new, exclusive patient comfort features. These highlights include one of the industry’s shortest magnets, an ultra-short bore platform, which offers greater openness for claustrophobic patients by minimizing the feeling of being inserted into a tube-like machine. In addition, the system is equipped with Toshiba’s patented Pianissimo™ noise reduction technology, which effectively reduces scan noise by as much as 90 percent.
The Aquilion 64-slice CT imaging offers gold standard image quality and unsurpassed speed. From routine exams to a non-invasive cardiac diagnostics, all of these services can be performed at one facility. The latest 64 slice scanning technology can complete a whole body scan in as little as 35 seconds. Our Toshiba CT scanner also takes super-sharp cardiac images in ten seconds or less, giving our physicians a clearer picture of even the tiniest vessel. Your specialist can now view all areas from the biggest bones to the tiniest element, with incredible speed, sharpness and clarity.
Longview Regional Medical Center has added a High-Field Open Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging system to its list of diagnostic offerings. As the first hospital in the East Texas region to offer this technology, the MRI has an accommodating design that reassures patients, as well as a broad range of clinical capabilities and features to meet the demand of today’s diagnostic imaging professionals.
Its imaging power is further boosted by an array of anatomically-specific, optimized receiver coils that allow advanced imaging applications ranging from vascular to orthopedic to women’s health.
High-Field Open MRI Benefits:
- The inside of the technology gantry provides a 270˚ unobstructed view, which minimizes anxiety and claustrophobia and maximizes a more pleasant environment for the patient during the MR exam
- This also allows the patient to have a loved one or friend nearby during the exam for further reassurance
- Weight Limit of 660 lbs
Coming in June 2013:
- Breast Imaging
- Peripheral Vascular Imaging
