Longview Regional Medical Center, one of four Medical Centers in Texas, has joined the P.A.D. Coalition, an alliance of leading health organizations, professional medical societies and government agencies that have united to raise public and health professional awareness about lower extremity P.A.D. Committed to improving health outcomes for patients with P.A.D., the Coalition is coordinating awareness and education efforts designed to promote early detection and treatment of P.A.D.
Stay in Circulation is the first national public awareness program to help Americans learn about peripheral arterial disease (P.A.D.) risk factors, prevention, and treatment. In the United States, more than eight million Americans suffer from P.A.D., which develops when arteries become clogged with fatty deposits (plaque) that limit blood flow to the legs. Like clogged arteries in the heart, clogged arteries in the legs increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Longview Regional is involved in the campaign through a variety of activities including venous risk assessments and various community sponsored runs/walks in an effort to help our community take steps to learn about P.A.D. while staying active and healthy.
