Longview Regional Medical Center is constantly looking for ways to improve our services to patients. We offer extensive outpatient diabetic education now with an American Diabetes Association Recognized Program aimed at serving pediatric, adult, and gestational diabetics following the ADA standards with:
- Certified Diabetic Educator
- Certified Foot and Nail Nurse
- Dieticians
- Exercise Physiologist
- Social Worker
The mission of the Outpatient Diabetes Self-Management Program, which is recognized by the American Diabetes Association, is to provide a quality diabetes management program based on national standards of care designed to improve the health status of our community. In addition, our mission is to increase community awareness of the growing disease and act as advocates to help reduce diabetes and its risk factors and complications through various avenues of educational opportunities.
New diabetics especially can benefit from a total of 1 hour consultation time with the dietitian and classes providing 9 hours of instructions plus follow up visits at 1, 3, and 6 months. Your physician will receive a copy of your progress and future follow-up visits.
Diabetic Support Group Meetings are also offered at our Senior Circle Building, located at 3000 N. 4th Street, which is across the street from LRMC. The meetings begin at 6:00 p.m.
